Will Yoga Adjustments improve my yoga practice?

  • We can use yoga to break old habits and remove unwanted emotional patterns by unifying the mind and body through new, unique experiences. We can also develop bad habits in our yoga practice as our body tries to take shortcuts or we don't have access to the right guidance. Yoga Adjustments isn't a definitive guide to debunking old habits, but it will have a positive impact.

  • Yoga is one of the most effective ways to balance each chakra because it creates alignment in the physical body. Balancing and stabilising your physical body through yoga practice also rebalances your mind; this realigns the chakras, which regulate specific behaviours, and makes it easier to overcome outdated patterns, beliefs, and habits. When we get grounded with our chakras, we start realising our full potential.

  • For most yoga practitioners, concentration is a goal, or at least it helps. We do our best to manage distractions when they arise, yet often find them managing us instead. One way of handling distractions is to let them pass without giving them new energy. In the process, our concentration is naturally strengthened. It sustains us when we pull ourselves away from distractions, which often means putting our devices on silent, turning off screens, telling people not to disturb us or anything else that works for us.

  • Yoga translates to "yoke" or "union", as in integrating all of the parts of you together. Slow movements and deep breathing increase blood flow and warm up muscles, while holding a pose can build strength. As we develop our practice, our bodies and minds become healthier, we tend to surround ourselves in a supportive community, and research is starting to prove that we live longer.

Our Story

Hello, I'm Tom, a certified yoga teacher from the UK, and I enjoy all types of yoga, especially Ashtanga and classic Hatha. Developing myself through yoga has been a lifeline for many years, but it wasn't until COVID crashed into my life that my practice helped me reach new depths of growth.

Like many, when I couldn't connect with my family, social circles or usual yoga community, I turned inwards to create and connect with my practice. Everything was going well until I fell from a height in a rock climbing accident in 2021, and my injuries have meant that my mobility has been permanently affected and practising yoga is still a long way away. This was when I started collaborating with friends to illustrate my ideas in the form of an accessible and beautiful yoga book, to support others on their yoga journey beyond my physical limitations.

It fills me with joy that my influence can extend beyond my four walls, that communities have awoken, and people from around the world are telling me that Yoga Soda’s resources are deepening their practice.
